I have serious doubts that anyone old enough to vote, or old enough to remember, has or will see another national election like 2008.
This election has stuff a TV writer couldn’t think of; a black candidate for president, a female for vice-president, and never in history has an individual’s religious beliefs counted for so much. Not even Kennedy’s Catholicism in 1960 affected the election this much.
The madness of the 1960 elections pale in comparison to this. Lyndon Johnson’s 1964 little girl picking a flower TV ad is nothing compared to the vile hate Sarah Palin and Barack Obama have had leveled at them. It has been, and is, disgusting.
The sun hadn’t even come up before Sarah Palin was being accused of lying about the birth of her son, and taken to task because her hair was so “yesterday”.
When the truth about the birth of her son was revealed, her daughter, who is five months pregnant became the newest political football, being done a disservice by both the left and right.
The left makes jokes that her child is the result of incest, while the right, who have looked down their noses at any child conceived out of wedlock as a social embarrassment, (except for Jesus). Now, with Bristol’s expected delivery, it’s suddenly a family’s right to privacy…when either shoe fits.
And Palin’s hair???? It became the new doo and those funky eye frames? Ya can’t buy them anymore.
Palin has been dissed because her passport doesn’t carry that many stamps. So? The vice-presidency, and any congressional seat is a learning experience. She’ll learn if she needs too, as will Obama…if he needs to.
Oprah has caught hell because she won’t interview Palin pre election…she claims it’s because she wants her show to be objective…but I know that Oprah’s AFRAID to put Palin on before the election. Anyone who has watched the Oprah bull crap phenomenon realizes that anything, anyone, Oprah brings on her one-hour prime time infomercial, or puts in her egotistic flight of fancy magazine, (“Oh gosh you want me to do another cover of O???”), sells.
Oprah can’t put Palin on her show, or 10 million women will vote for her. You think I’m kidding? Any book, by anyone, will become an instant best seller if it’s put on Oprah, any unknown West Texas Psychologist will become a TV super star. It makes no difference if it’s written by a liar like James Frey, or performed by a b.s. artist like Dr. Phil, if Oprah shows it…it sells, soooo no Palin until after Nov. 4.
And the strangeness of the election isn’t confined to our shores, a parliament member in England, (female) tell the press that Palin is horrible. Ted Kennedy never knew Margaret Thatcher any better than she knows Palin, and he never said she was horrible.
A woman TV commentator in Canada, was quoted as saying that Palin looks like a porn star, and that those who like her are nothing but trailer trash. Hmmm. Well I’ll bet the man in her life, (if she has one), could tell her that Sarah Palin looks nothing like Linda Lovelace, Marilyn Chambers, or Jenna Jameson…trust me on this…I know. And though I lived in a trailer less than a year, I’m not trash, and the folks I know who did or do aren’t either.
This nation will not cease to exist no matter who wins, or loses. It will only cease when WE allow it to.
