Slinging a Smooth Stone

cf     Questionable Rules, Questionable Rulers

As any student of history knows all civilizations eventually fade away. If some prognosticators are correct, we, (U.S.A.), are, in this the eighth year of the 21st century, witnessing the beginning of America’s slide.
As a student of history, I knew such a thing was inevitable; however, as an American, I did not, do not wish to believe it is happening within my lifetime. That being said, our nation, our way of life is in danger, and the level of what is and was America took a steep dip soon after Sept. 11.

Then President Bush, with encouragement from his Attorney General, Vice-President, and the full backing of the U.S. Congress enacted legislation insultingly named after the patriots that struck our first blow for Liberty, and with it’s being placed into law, (eventually permanently), sped our ride to eventual oblivion. Bush, with encouragement from V.P. Cheney and Secretary Rumsfeld then began questionable treatment of enemy combatants. Were you to explicitly trust Bush and his cronies, (which I never could), common sense should tell you that sometime in the future there would be a president whose agenda you couldn’t support, and add to that, a congressional majority, you have President Barack  Obama.
By matter of rule we now have legislation designed to insure our freedom, but at the same time that legislation allows our government to look into our lives without benefit of warrants, and judges. Couldn’t trust Bush? Can you trust Obama with backing from Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid, and an Attorney General already running his mouth about guns? The new A.G. Holder had to back off his claim that there soon would be a ban of  assault rifles. Holder said that if the ban went into effect, it would make Mexico’s fight against drug lords much easier. Mexico’s president has complained about weapons crossing into his nation from the U.S. Some years ago, I remember the U.S. complaining about the amount of drugs crossing from Mexico into the U.S. The Mexican answer? If the  U.S. stopped the drug culture’s demand for drugs, the problem would dry-up….hmmm. Wonder how that logic might apply to Mexico’s present problems?
But, a potential border war with Mexican Drug Lords is really minute compared to our wrecked economy, because you see, we can’t afford another war. We can’t even afford to shoot down a North Korean test missile.
Our economy, has been a house of cards for years, built on too many entitlements, too many bank mergers and too easy an access to credit, combined with too many wars.
Now President Obama is planning for us to spend our way to wealth on what is basically counterfeit money supported by Chinese credit.
Obama, Pelosi and Reid,   with Al Gore as their High Priest, will soon sell us down a green path of ecology and finish destroying what little is left of our tenuous economy.
Obama, with federal loans to GM, has seen fit to fire the car giant’s CEO. He has promised that the U.S. Government will stand behind car warranties. With what money? He has threatened GM and Chrysler with bankruptcy, (what they should have done in the first place), if they don’t toe the line.
If you were one that thought GM no longer built good cars, you’re gonna love the cars built by government workers. Imagine if you will, a Corvette built by committee.
The federal government has screwed up health care, Social Security, the American dollar, the banking system and the Constitution.
   We are in deep trouble.
