2008 Santa Fe Trail Daze Car Show
by Ted Smith
The interest was high at the 2008 Trail Daze Car Show.
The wind was high and the temperatures in the 90 degrees plus. But attendance by the public was good.
Exhibits ranged from a 1909 Overland to a 1979 Mercedes convertible.
A lot of enthusiasm was shown this year by Chet Wardlaw who exhibited a 1953 Ford Victoria, a 1949 Ford pickup, and a 1969 Ford Mustang. Chet has or is in the process of, restoring all three of these vehicles himself.
Gerald Dixon of Guymon was a new exhibitor with a 1922 Ford Touring car
Also new was a 1977 Pontiac GTO shown by Mike and Rusty Cox.
One of the favorites was Ted Fields’ 1957 Ford Retractable hardtop.
Marvin Taylor, of Guymon restored a 1947 Spartan Trailer, that had belonged to Stan Smoot’s dad.
It is now on display at the museum. Marvin is a good friend of Bob Anderson who has been instrumental in getting many of the museum’s great cars.
Bob showed his 1930 Model A.
Thanks to the First State Bank of Boise City, for providing cash awards for the exhibits at the show.
