Tri-County Electric has begun an extensive ad campaign, and personal contact to express their concern over energy usage.

The company said that at most during the coming hot summer weather, they might be able to give a warning of two hours of an impending rolling blackout.

For example if the company sees the need of an energy cut back of 25 percent, that amount of loss will be divided by four throughout the service area, and each would share the energy loss equally.

However, a warning will very likely not be possible and the roll, will just occur without warning.

The company explained that as customers we can help by:

  • Replace energy burning bulbs with compact
  • fluorescent.
  • Home insulation
  • Seal drafts at windows and doors.
  • keep heating and cooling systems clean.
  • Replace old appliances.
  • Don’t waste, turn off lights, when not in use, turn of TVs and computers.

In any case be prepared, have on hand:

  • Batteries
  • Flashlights
  • Battery-powered radios
  • Candles
  • Lighters
  • Drinking water
  • Canned or dry foods

much of the problem is due to a declining infrastructure.

The company explains that new leadership is needed in Washington D.C., new power plants are needed.

They ask that you write or contact your congressman.

“We didn’t get here overnight, and we won’t leave here overnight,” said one spokesperson.
